What if I’m having issues with my primary (original) Hip replacement?

Whether your hip was replaced by Dr. Della Valle or another surgeon, we encourage yearly follow-up and more importantly, communication with the office if you have any new pain or discomfort from your joint replacement. For established patients of Dr. Della Valle’s, please call our office directly if you are experiencing a new on-set of pain, fevers/chills, difficulty bearing weight or increased swelling or redness of the joint replaced.

For patients concerned about a hip replacement done by another surgeon, please call our office directly to review your issues and discuss records needed for review prior to scheduling a consultation with Dr. Della Valle. We accept these consults on a case-by-case basis. Required records include your   operative report(s),   recent office note from original surgeon,   x-rays of your hip from before and after your hip replacement on a CD,  recent blood test  evaluating your inflammatory markers (our office will discuss/order these for you). It is possible that we would require some additional testing after reviewing your records and prior to a consult if necessary. Dr. Della Valle’s goal is to offer the best outcome possible given all your records and his expertise in complex revisions.  He has made significant contributions to the literature regarding periprosthetic joint infections in Adult Reconstructive surgery and has helped define many guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of this challenging complication.

Please call our office directly at (312)432-2350 to further discuss your issues with your hip replacement.
