Paul Yi, MD

2013-14

Paul YiDr. Paul Yi has always been inquisitive: while a medical student he published a paper on beatboxing’s effects on the vocal cords. And although research may take some time away from his beatboxing hobby, he found the year to be an important step in his path towards becoming a clinician and a scientist. “My research year with Dr. Della Valle was hands-down the best year of my entire medical schooling. I gained expertise in all facets of research, was able to cultivate a lifelong passion for scientific inquiry and discovery, and make meaningful contributions to the literature in the process. I could not have asked for a better mentor and friend than Craig Della Valle.” Among other publications, Paul was the lead author of the 2013 Frank Stinchfield Award winning paper, “Diagnosis of infection in the early postoperative period after total hip arthroplasty.” Paul and Dr. Della Valle are seen here presenting their paper at the annual Hip Society Meeting.
